One of the main reasons why bandwidth is lower on average in the US is the distance that the broadband drops (connections) have to go from the local loop (station) to get to a business or home.

In Korea, the highest bandwith is usually found in the cities and as a result the distances are not as far as the vast distances you have in many areas (especially cities out west) of the US that need broadband.

But that still does not explain away the high prices that most cable and broadband providers charge in the US.

Broadband Cost and Pricing are about the same in most of Canada as the US.

The broadband speeds in most of Ontario and in Montreal are faster than 5 mb though

124MB download for only 37 dollars per month I pay 54 dollars a month for 8mb download and Cox has the audacity in its advertising to say that 5 MB is a “Blazing Speed”!

Broadband is cheap in Seoul. Most company and consumer get 124 mb download for 40 Won (about 37 USD) per month.
